Me and My Staff

Stress? That's common isn't? Penah terfikir tak orang dulu dulu ni kalau stress apa dorang buat? Nowadays we are lucky ada banyak benda bole buat. Pegi holiday, reading books and lots more. Tapi our commitment compared dengan orang dulu dulu pun lain. So yeah. Since i'd been transfer to KL, my work life totally change. Dulu dulu tempat lama ada banyak bos jaga so we like kuli kuli buat kerja menjadi pak turut. Skrg da upgrade sikit jadi bos bos kecik tetapi workload adalah 24 kali lebih dengan gaji yang sama. Life is a journey. well....


Being a boss is never easy. Because most of the problem is the BOSS, not like the visi misi matlamat and all. the BOSS. Here a some tips, which Im trying my level best untuk melaksanakannya. 

1. Micromanage 
In my defend, bukan I nak micromanage. Siapalah yang tambahkan kerja sendiri kan. Tapi alahai bila outcome tu mcm tak memberi impak rasa mcm baik buat sendiri lah semuanya. KAT SITU I SALAH. I SHOULD LET THEM DO IT, AND MAKE SURE THEY TAKE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS!.

2. Focus On Mistakes
Try untuk sentiasa positive and create a positive environment in the office. I ALWAYS, ALWAYS SMILES AND GOSIP WITH THEM. Hahaha. Always move forward. NOT GUILTY! 

3. DISMISS IDEAS
Make sure that u listen. I always listen even when im too tired to listen. Because I'd been in their shoes. To me, there's no such thing as wrong idea. Its either can be implemented or not. SIMPLE. So accept all input and access it all later. Just LISTEN.

4. Don't Keep Your Word & Dont Make Empty Promises
Well, one of the biggest keys to successful employee engagement is building TRUST. So always keep your word. I had a situation where my boss needed my staff to present on employment issues. She (my beloved staff) is very good at her work, good outcome, very fast and so on. Yes, I love her. She is one of my strength here. So, she is so not use to presenting. She never present anything in a board meeting so takut dia mmg bukan kepalang. Dia jumpa I and ask if i can replace her, for that I send her to a presentation training and still, dia belum bersedia. So, I decided to present it. But since shes so good and she know her responsibilities, she insist to present (TRY) and minta i back her up if dia salah cakap or kene Q&A. So I promise her I would. And I did. She present it well and I add a little bit. That little thing, for some people is nothing but I want to be part of her, so help. And I have nothing to lose. Instead, she loves me more.

5.  DONT TELL INAPPROPRIATE JOKE
Remember, your reputation is more important. Enough said.

6. Hold Useless Meetings
I hate it too! 

7. Dont set unrealistic Deadlines
Pls. In order to set deadlines, pls pls pls make sure it is achievable. Dont set the par to high. And communicate, have discussing before setting it. So it's agree upon.

8. Pick Favorite
Ok. Im guilty for this. I suka orang yang menyenangkan I. Sorry. I'll try to change okay? But seriously. Respect is something that you have to earn. DOT.

Okay. Time to head home. (=
